When to visit FirstMed's orthopedics practice?
If you had a minor injury from an accident (such as a tear, sprain, strain, or broken bone), or are experiencing chronic pain, FirstMed’s English-language orthopedic practice may offer treatment. You don’t need a referral. Visit the orthopedist directly to speed recovery.
If you experience persistent pain in any of your joints, bones, or muscles as a result of an accident or repetitive motion injury, your primary care physician or rheumatologist may also refer you to an orthopedist.
If you experience any of these symptoms, schedule a consultation with our orthopedic specialist for assessment.
- pain, stiffness, or discomfort, making it difficult to perform everyday activities;
- chronic pain (lasting longer than 12 weeks);
- decreased range of motion;
- feeling of instability while walking or standing;
- soft tissue injury that is not improving after 48 hours.

What to expect at your orthopedic visit?
During your visit, which generally takes about 30 minutes, our orthopedist will examine your condition based on your symptoms and pain, and inquire about your medical history.
After the initial assessment, the doctor may order an on-site X-ray or ultrasound. Sometimes, additional tests may be required to receive a proper diagnosis.
Finally, you will discuss your therapy plan.
