How long does a consultation take?
A sleep medicine consultation typically lasts 30-60 minutes.Signs you may be experiencing sleep related issues:
- Snoring, inability to breathe during sleep
- Difficulty falling asleep
- Difficulty sleeping through the night, or getting back to sleep after waking during the night
- Drowsiness, low energy and frequent struggles to stay awake during the day
- Sleep talking, walking, and/or other unusual activity during sleep
- Restless leg syndrome
Turn to us for help if:
- It is hard for you to fall asleep and sleep deeply
- Your sleep is restless
- You, or your sleep-mate are snoring loudly, perhaps experiencing inability to breathe
- You have been known to shout or engage in other unusual activities while sleeping (e.g. sleep walking) or if you wake up due to nightmares
- You experience a stinging or tingling sensation in your legs while at rest or in bed, causing you to perpetually move it
- You often wake unrested, and struggle with falling asleep during the day
If deemed medically necessary, consultation may be followed by further examination through:
- Portable snoring, breathing, and oxygen saturation measuring polygraph instrument
- Portable equipment for detecting foot-motion, muscle spasm: electromyograph
- An overnight, full polysomnography sleep examination, if necessary
