After-Hours Medical Care

At FirstMed, our highly trained English-speaking GPs and pediatricians are available 24/7 to advise you or provide you with emergency medical care in case of a sudden illness.

Would you like medical advice outside our regular opening hours?

If your or your child’s health condition suddenly gets worse (or worsens) and does not improve within a short time, our on-call family doctor or pediatrician may help you as follows.

  1. Call the clinic at +36-1-224-9090 — we are available 24/7.
  2. Give us your name, date of birth, contact information, and a brief description of your symptoms or concerns.
  3. Our staff will speak with you and let you know the earliest appointment, or in case the situation is more serious, we may connect you to an on-call doctor.
  4. The medical professional on the line will assess your condition and give you appropriate advice.
  5. Depending on the severity, our doctor can help you with the following:
    • Suggest a medical examination at the clinic or consultation via Telemedicine.*
    • Recommend immediate hospitalization if the problem is more severe.
    • Suggest an ambulance; we may connect you with a local provider.

If you are our regular patient and need to stay in the hospital, we will follow up on your progress. We will share it with your doctor at FirstMed, communicate with you and the medical staff regularly, and be available to sort out any problems.

Why is it necessary to call ahead first?

  • There may be times when a doctor is not available in the clinic.
  • In more urgent cases, you may be requested to go directly to the hospital, not the clinic.

How should you prepare for emergency treatment?

To ensure a quick and efficient response during emergencies,

Being prepared for stressful situations helps you handle them better and can help you respond more effectively.

*Please note that an after-hours fee will be charged in case of a consultation or medical examination outside of our regular appointment times. See more details on our price list.

What our patients say

“I’ve been a patient at FirstMed for several years. Even though I have the Hungarian health insurance, I still enroll annually in the Premium Plan with FirstMed. I’ve had two emergencies where I got immediate and top notch care. One of these emergencies took place at 11 pm on a Saturday night and the physician met me at the office before having me admitted to a hospital. As for mundane illnesses, like colds, flu, and annual check ups, I’ve received the best care. I have a regular GP I see there but have seen others when he’s not available and all have given me excellent care. I just recommended First Med to another expat.”
