FirstMed’s direct billing is a convenient way of managing medical bills for private health insurance holders. It simplifies the process, allowing you to settle your medical bills directly with your insurance company without the need for complex paperwork or lengthy reimbursement processes.

After your visit, we will guide you through completing all the necessary insurance claim forms and send them to your insurer. We also take care of the payment arrangements directly with the insurance company, ensuring a straightforward process for you.

This saves time and helps you get the most out of your private health insurance coverage.

Direct billing with travel medical insurance

Rest assured, we may also directly bill the medical costs of several travel insurance policies. If we are in contract with your insurance provider, we can settle your costs with the insurance company. But even if we do not have an existing relationship with your insurer, we ask for a payment guarantee, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free process for you.

If your travel insurance policy utilizes a reimbursement claims process, you should pay your medical costs upfront and file a reimbursement claim with your insurance company. 

We issue the invoices in English in the format required by the insurance companies. If your policy does not allow us to settle your bill directly with your insurance company, you can have your costs reimbursed swiftly. 

Remember that travel medical insurance only covers the treatment of an illness or injury that occurred (or started) outside your home country during the validity period of your insurance policy.

To streamline the direct billing process, please follow the steps below:

  1. Bring your insurance card on your first visit. We will make a copy and attach it to your medical file
  2. A credit card authorization is needed for all patients using direct billing with their insurance
  3. Fill in the Credit Card Authorization Form that you will get at our reception. We will keep the information on the form strictly confidential
  4. Sign the claim form after your visit, which we will submit to your insurer
  5. We can bill our existing patients’ Telemedicine consultations directly to their insurance company if their insurance plan covers it and your details are not expired.
  6. Please download and fill in the proper claim form and return it to us before your appointment. You will be sent the link.
  7. We will settle your bill directly with your insurance company

What you need to know

  • You are responsible for payment of the services not covered by your insurance policy. These may include, among others, excess deductibles, co-pays, etc.
  • If your insurance company denies the claim, you should cover the costs yourself.
  • While we accept insurance from many companies, please double-check whether direct billing is possible according to your specific policy.
