Sleep Medicine

Sleep medicine is a relatively young branch of medicine, which incorporates the elements of exploratory sleep therapies and procedures, with the relevant elements of the more classical fields of neurology, pulmonology, internal medicine, ENT, and psychiatry.

How long does a consultation take?

A sleep medicine consultation typically lasts 30-60 minutes.

Signs you may be experiencing sleep related issues:

  • Snoring, inability to breathe during sleep
  • Difficulty falling asleep
  • Difficulty sleeping through the night, or getting back to sleep after waking during the night
  • Drowsiness, low energy and frequent struggles to stay awake during the day
  • Sleep talking, walking, and/or other unusual activity during sleep
  • Restless leg syndrome

Turn to us for help if:

  • It is hard for you to fall asleep and sleep deeply
  • Your sleep is restless
  • You, or your sleep-mate are snoring loudly, perhaps experiencing inability to breathe
  • You have been known to shout or engage in other unusual activities while sleeping (e.g. sleep walking) or if you wake up due to nightmares
  • You experience a stinging or tingling sensation in your legs while at rest or in bed, causing you to perpetually move it
  • You often wake unrested, and struggle with falling asleep during the day

If deemed medically necessary, consultation may be followed by further examination through:

  • Portable snoring, breathing, and oxygen saturation measuring polygraph instrument
  • Portable equipment for detecting foot-motion, muscle spasm: electromyograph
  • An overnight, full polysomnography sleep examination, if necessary
