Dr. László Varjú, a highly experienced medical professional at FirstMed, brings over 10,000 hours of expertise in emergency medicine. His active medical licenses in the United States, Missouri, and Illinois and his American Academy of Family Practice membership underscore his commitment to providing top-notch care.

Dr. Varjú’s medical journey began with studies at the prestigious University of Graz in Austria, where he honed his skills and gained a global perspective on healthcare. This international exposure has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of diverse medical practices. At the University of Michigan in the United States, he completed a residency in family practice. During this time, he also worked as a practical lecturer and instructor for medical students, focusing on skin surgery.

His further medical practice:

  • Joined a private practice in Illinois affiliated with St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital.
    • Completed Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Advanced Surgical Life Support (ASLS) training and received the Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support (PACLS) certification.
    • Took care of his patients and performed significant surgical procedures.
    • Rotated among the three major regional hospitals, providing complete care for infarction, strokes, acute diabetes, and more, even emergency deliveries if necessary.
    • Worked in the intensive care unit for 13 years.
  • Continued medical career in the US Air Force as a lieutenant colonel and department chief
    • Received aviation medical training at Maxwell Air University in Alabama and regular military training. He had been trained on how to treat wounds and radiation in the case of nuclear attacks.
    • Stationed at Whiteman Air Base in Missouri, then Ramstein Air Base in Germany, where he carried out emergency care.
    • He was deployed several times, even spending four months in Hungary at the Taszár Air Base during the Balkan Wars.
    • Retired from the US Air Force in 2000 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
    • Returned to the US Army in 2004 for a year to serve in the headquarters clinic in Stuttgart.

Dr. Varjú joined FirstMed in 2000 and provides screening and treatment of cosmetic and acute skin concerns:

    • Removal of unsightly spider veins and facial epilation (hair removal),
    • Cosmetic repair of major scars
    • Progressive treatment of ingrown toenails
    • Furthermore, he can remove benign sebaceous cysts, moles, and lipomas when they cause discomfort to patients.
    • He can also identify and remove potentially cancerous areas of the skin.
