His medical career:
- Since 2020: Gastroenterologist at FirstMed clinic in Budapest
- Since 1973: Associate Professor of Surgery and Gastroenterology at Semmelweis University of Medicine
- Between 1996 and 2014, he was the founding president of the Hungarian Endoscopic Ultrasound Club.
- At the beginning of his career, he was a researcher at the Institute of Biology II at Semmelweis University and later at the Department of Surgery I.
Sports professional activity:
- 2015: Received the Miksa Esterházy Award for outstanding work promoting sport.
- Since 2009: Member of the Board and Chairman of the Medical Committee of the Hungarian Paralympic Committee (MPB).
- 2000-2016: Member of the Medical Committee of FISA (International Rowing Federation), then consultant
- 2000-2014: Member, later Vice President of the Board of the Hungarian Rowing Federation; from 2004 Chairman of the Medical Committee of the Federation, Member of the Hungarian Olympic Committee, then Vice Chairman of the Medical Committee.

During his career, he has published numerous papers in national and international scientific journals and given over 100 presentations at scientific forums in Hungary and abroad.
In addition to his native Hungarian, Dr. Péter Kokas is fluent in English.
Between 1979 and 1981, he was a visiting researcher at the Institute of Life Sciences at Indiana University, Indiana, USA, and an invited lecturer at Standford and Cornell Universities, where he gave lectures and organized and led workshops for English- and Hungarian-speaking students.
In his free time, he enjoys going to the opera and is interested in classical music and history. He is a regular sportsman, enjoying rowing, tennis, and running. As a Hungarian national team rower, he was a successful competitor in many European and world competitions between 1965 and 73 and won the B final at the 1972 Munich Olympics as a member of the Hungarian Eight.
